Holding out a hand
Holding out a hand,
To someone I don't know,
I plead with you to take it,
Beg you to do so.
The truth of it all,
If I'm dealing in honesty,
I probably need you,
More than you need me.
Holding out a hand,
To someone who might need it.
Trying to let them know,
That someone gives a shit.
I'm trying to tell you,
That I really care,
Although I've never heard your voice,
I'll always be there.
Holding out a hand,
Let you have your say,
Drop me a line
At any time of day.
Trying to light the way,
Help right from the start,
I have never seen your eyes,
But you pull the strings of my heart.
Holding out a hand,
To someone who probably doesn't need,
My empathy, my ear a place among my closest friends.
I am always right here, no ulterior motive, no malice, no greed.
To someone I don't know,
I plead with you to take it,
Beg you to do so.
The truth of it all,
If I'm dealing in honesty,
I probably need you,
More than you need me.
Holding out a hand,
To someone who might need it.
Trying to let them know,
That someone gives a shit.
I'm trying to tell you,
That I really care,
Although I've never heard your voice,
I'll always be there.
Holding out a hand,
Let you have your say,
Drop me a line
At any time of day.
Trying to light the way,
Help right from the start,
I have never seen your eyes,
But you pull the strings of my heart.
Holding out a hand,
To someone who probably doesn't need,
My empathy, my ear a place among my closest friends.
I am always right here, no ulterior motive, no malice, no greed.
