Fantasy enticing these highs of despair
Empty promises of fulfillment
Lies on the air
Heart in chains through the eyes
Bondages of a blank stare

Perpetuated by shame
This compulsion to lust
Euphoric trances cast in such shapely dust

Addict of pleasure and ache
Bearing this burden of mutual heartbreak

Demons versus vows
Puppet to these invisible strings
Vision shrouded by delusion
Falling for dreams

Entrapment by way of the minds eye
Reality and myths converge
Enchantments enrapture
Wasted affections of urge
This part of me that I can’t seem to purge
Overspent on the debts of this selfishness splurge

Fine lines of the soul and these malignant ways
Germ cell tumors form in the phrase
A life that utters lethal lethargy liturgy replays
Dead routines overshadow the brightest of days

What is the affliction and what am I?
When humanity proves to be its own ailment of death
Like cancer with a pulse living off the lungs of my every breath

Nursing the sickness off the blood in my veins
Another variant in the crave
A petri-dish for a thousand strains
This tongue’s pallet has a taste for the grave

Negligence, my absence
I am a ghost in the arms of this love that holds a shell
Fortify me, wake me from this comatose
Pluck out my eye and spare me this hell…
