Image for the poem Sacripant

Sacripant

somber rhythm my heart beats too
painful melody my soul aches
darkness is where I thrive
in eternal waiting

external beauty only frustrates
makes one crave deeply
odd fascination life
brooding in contempt
sulking in my damnation
grievous error to be born of blood

evil incarnate an immortal
tasting the carnality of flesh
divinely seemed together
as to tempt the temptress

seeking to understand
I expand my search among the mortals
willing there be another
one like me to share with

this eternity and the next look bleak
purifying the rite
I say a ritual
enchantments fly then return empty

loneliness abounds
on the morrow, I will retreat to the shadows
where my emptiness doesn't burn too brightly
