Jason Robot 1 POV

Author’s Note: Wanted to try something new since I’m still working on the beginning of the memoir in the only point of view it should be eventually published in as a memoir- mine. For now, I’m exploring the masked man’s point of view to get a deeper sense of who he is (his motivations, desires, goals, etc.). Let me be clear on something though. J (the man Alia loves dearly and refers to as) stands for Jason in this story. He’s not actually Jason but a robot of him. He’s the first Jason robot Alia comes across; there’s more Jason robots in the room beyond what they can access. He’s designed to love her in the way the original Jason could not; he was designed by the old man who tricked Alia (me) into going into a time machine which ultimately led her here. The old man of trickery created the place since the day Alia was born; it’s a spiritual realm as she later finds out. When “I” go into that time machine in the story, my body separates from my spirit forever in a sense. Alia is my spirit- who I am internally, and the Jason Robot1 is one manifestation of who and what she wants- someone who looks, acts, and talks exactly like Jason yet doesn’t leave her. That’s all I can say about it for now. Enjoy.

Beginning Scene in the masked man’s point of view
I sip another Budweiser, tasting its goodness while watching tv. Watching all these people act like dumbasses.
I know this is the day. This is the day that Alia will come here . In fact, she’s sleeping in the other room on the couch. I’m just waiting for her to wake up and find me.
I’m Jason, the man Alia loves in robotic form. Unfortunately, I’m not the real deal, but I still love her. Love Alia and all that she is to me.
I prefer them chicks broken. I know she’ll eventually love me back.
Or at least, I hope.
Because she’s the reason I’m alive. She’s the reason this place was created.
And eventually, I have to lie to her and act like I’m the real Jason when it’s time to unmask myself and die.
I’m not meant to be with her for long at all, but I want to see where it goes.
I hear her movement in the other room, and that alone excites my dick.
But I know I can’t play with it here, as Alia may see and freak out. And I am here to love her.
I am designed for that and nothing else.
Next thing I know, I hear her in my room, reaching for the locked door there.
Standing up, I ask her, "You know trying to open that door is useless right?"
"Who are you?" she asks.
I shrug. "I'm just a guy who lives here. I take it that you must live here too?"
"No..…I don't live here. I live somewhere completely different. There must be a way out of here."
I could see the desperation in those beautiful green eyes; I know I can’t help her.
I just wonder what it’s like to caress her cheeks, facial and ass. That fucking ass. She doesn’t know a great thing when she sees it.
I say, "There's no way out of here."
“What do you mean there’s no way out? Where am I?”
I laugh. “As far as I’m concerned, you’re home. You’re right where you belong.”
"That can't be,” she says.
"But it is. And if it makes you feel better, here's a Budweiser. It might help.” I hand one from the fridge to her. She hesitantly takes it.
I know she’s not going to drink, but I also know alcohol solves a lot of problems just like sex does. Worth a try.
She just stands there until she asks if she can excuse herself to the other room. I allow her to leave.
She probably needs a lot of time to process things, so I’ll give her time.
I’ll give her time.

What works in this piece?
-      Getting to know Jason’s inner thoughts.
-      The repeated lined at the end “…I’ll give her time. I’ll give her time.” Feels like a slow heartbeat.

What could work better in this piece?
-      More in-depth character analysis.
o      Why would Alia not recognize the robotic Jason?
o      Does robot Jason look exactly like human Jason?
-      Why would robot Jason tell Alia that he is just some guy?
-      Why doesn’t he try to comfort Alia?

Have you read Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds or Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo?
Both authors’ style reminds a bit of yours.
