Dark Side
Archaic sky.
Curtains of clouds
frame the theatre of night.
For the perpetual debut of
the moon's acute silver light.
That pools on the surface
of the lake's deep abyss.
And somewhere beneath
the deathly silent moon.
A hungered wolf rustles
in winter's ruins.
Admist the famished foliage
and the shriveled dead bloom.
A dark oblivion moves & shifts
in my heart's empty rooms.
We are all moons
in possession of a darker side.
The wolf knows this
as he stares at me
with dark oil eyes.
We both know,
the bunny in the snow,
will meet its untimely demise.

Nice verses, Debbie.
We all are moons housing oblivion. We always need to do that.

I wrote the poem looking at this desolate picture of the night and the way the clouds looked they looked like curtains for the theatre of moon. Thank you so much for nice comments!

Good Morning Debbie. A wonderful dark poem to wake up to. "We are all moons in possession of a darker side". That is a powerful message. Well written.

Very descriptive, yet concrete. You use both simplicity and complexity, in building up to the ending. I can imagine, in my own way, the vivid imagery of your shared expressions. The choice of metaphors creates a unique standpoint of observation, at least for me. The theme of like a stage or play or an environment for acting is a good way to get across the darkness. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

This is brilliant, Debbie.
