The Surface of The Soul
Is the surface of the soul like moon stained craters....
Or aquamarine like magical glaciers....
Is the surface of the soul scarred with battle wounds.....
Or is it a sheet of ice you lie beneath with lips of frozen blue.....
Is it a field that stretches forever with happy wildflowers.....
Or sands of time with secret dunes that devour prescious hours.....
At the surface of the soul, no encounter is by chance.
No matter what the terrain of your inner land.
You must sink or dive below the surface,
to ever really know.....

Oh my, thank you!!!
I was a little nervous about posting this one. Felt it needed more, but I like the way it came out.

Hello my beautiful friend. I was hoping you would read this. Yup I like to dive into the abyss's of the soul. I have to say, I think I may have been inspired by your post Vapor of Soul.
Anyway, you, my dear....are a very special soul. Surface of your soul is exquisite, dark & magical. 🖤

Re. The Surface of The Soul
Very nice. Visual, emotional, conceptually built and progressive, concise, thought-provoking, a bit ambiguous, a bit obvious. I like the moral compass in this discovery of self, or what people understand as the soul. That's just how I see the subject matter.
The dualities of principle and known understanding you use in drawing together the various analogies that become points in your transitions are solid. Each metaphor you use, when it's broken down to the smaller and basic scale of what each one is, is concrete and impactful, and relatable. You do a good job of building up to your concepts, and then steering direction, to create a good overall theme. You do all of this without confusing tangents, and just drive the point home of your interpretation of the surface of the soul. I use the word "spirit" because there is such misconstrued and semantical confusion, when it comes to the idea of a "soul", but that's just me, and I can still relate to this.
Anway, that's some of the gauging and scope of awareness I see in this. Hope this is helpful and applies a suitable context for you to consider. Thanks for sharing!

A giant thank you for that. When you explain it like that, I do feel like I improve. I didn't want to post it, I thought people would not like it, lol. Writing is a skill I long to master.....all writers do, I imagine. I put a lot of thought into my poems. I want impact, but I want reader to have a clear understanding. I work hard to provide that.
Yes, I realize the word soul may not always appeal. It's just a word engrained in me I've always used. Probably overuse, lol
Again thanks a million!

You're quite welcome! Again, theme, direction, transition can all build up to and break down in various dimensions and levels. Think of it like directing a movie, and you're trying to get the right camera angles. Hope this helps!

These are great questions. I think the soul is a bit of both as you have expertly alluded to, in the sense that the strong sands, wind or waves can erode or break us at times but then there are those beautiful moments too that the soul enjoys, like 'the field which stretches forever with happy wildflowers' or in my case, simply a Wimpy special grill, strong coffee & a warm doughnut with ice cream & chocolate sauce, sprinkled with nuts, Lol! Another magical write, Debbie. I really enjoyed the contrast. ;-)

You always make me smile. Where are you buying me that strong coffee and warm donut? Lol I don't know how I came up with all that, it started with just a sentence about the surface of the soul being like the moon and I just tried to make it into something.
Thx for your continued support!

Yes, some people have a desolate and cold exterior, while others are warm-hearted and generous. Sometimes you can tell which right away.

There's always more than meets the eye. But excavation may be required to find the real. Lovely
