Author's Note
This is about some of the impact that sin has on the world economy and attitudes of people, at least in western culture. The history and spread of the Roman empires have become a global awareness now. All of the dazzling idolatry that promotes sexual immorality, as well as poor standards of behavior being passed on from generation to generation, are becoming out of control. People just willfully follow what they want to or choose to believe. There is no conflict resolution, and eventually, it's going to bottom out with a massive "funeral," if you will. I guess the last two stanzas are about my own distinction from it, in my relationship to God. The "Joseph's amen, brilliantly" can simply be a scriptural reference, or indeed, something personal to me in my prayer life.
