Invitation to Dream
The January sky
held a long awaited
invitation to dream.
My mental steam
had finally reached
the atmosphere.
Behold,
a startling,
choir of squawk
was released
Extraordinary,
was the wedge of geese.
Impressive
in their shifting
chevron flight.
A few rebels
fly off
to seek the naked night.
held a long awaited
invitation to dream.
My mental steam
had finally reached
the atmosphere.
Behold,
a startling,
choir of squawk
was released
Extraordinary,
was the wedge of geese.
Impressive
in their shifting
chevron flight.
A few rebels
fly off
to seek the naked night.

It was a spectacular scene, the peppered V in the sky. I'm fascinated how they fly that high.

I immediately thought of Wild Geese too reading this poem. It evokes similar imagery & emotion. A deceptively simple poem with more than meets the eye

Thank you. The way the sky looked and then I hear this roar of squawking. It was pretty cool. It's the kind of thing most people would not even look up or care, sad. But I know my friends here would appreciate. Have a good night!

Your poem captures a moment of beauty and wonder in nature, specifically focusing on the sight of geese flying in the January sky. The descriptive language and vivid imagery create a sense of awe and invite the reader to share in this experience.
The opening lines set the stage by mentioning the "January sky" and the "invitation to dream." This immediately creates a sense of anticipation and sets a contemplative tone for the poem. The phrase "mental steam" adds a touch of whimsy, suggesting that the narrator's thoughts and imagination have been building up and are now ready to be released.
The poem then shifts its focus to the geese, describing their flight as a "startling, choir of squawk." This phrase not only captures the sound of the geese but also suggests a harmonious and unified movement. The use of the word "extraordinary" emphasizes the impressive nature of their flight.
The mention of the "wedge of geese" and their "shifting chevron flight" further emphasizes the formation and coordination of their movement. The poem highlights the beauty of this natural phenomenon and the impact it has on the observer.
The mention of a few rebels flying off into the "naked night" adds an element of unpredictability and individuality to the scene. It suggests that even within a coordinated group, there are always those who venture out on their own, seeking their own path.
Overall, your poem effectively captures a moment of natural beauty and invites the reader to join in the experience. The descriptive language, imagery, and use of metaphor create a sense of wonder and appreciation for the harmony and individuality found in nature's offerings.

Nice imagery with the chevron of geese. And I love how the rebel geese express your spirit. Lovely fusion of nature and mental state

Very simple, but clear picture.
Calm, and bright!

I'm blushing.
I love nature and if I can give it life,
I hope to bring peace to anyone who reads.
I'm writing about the snow right now, it's really coming down.
Thank you ever so much for such a lovely comment.
I see right through the hard to the soft in you..... ❤️

😊 big smile
They were so loud and flew over the top of the house, I just happened to be outside. I looked up and well the rest you read, and by the way, thank you!
We just got dumped with like almost a foot of snow!
And lost power for an hour in 20 degree weather 😲

... and you still like the snow, do you? Sorry to learn of your struggles. Hoping it's only a temporary setback, naturally but scary, I'd imagine!
