Merry Christmas

A smiling Claus on the card
Makes little stitches in my heart
It holds the secret to some words
That are shallow, but still hurt
I cannot stop, you make me cry
The same card as... every time
You ask me if I was alright -
Oh, wait, a tear dropped on that line

For it is every other season
For no however reason
You compose this shallow poem
This charade of care and worrying
Pretend you've changed in words and rhythm
Gentle asking, no sin admitting
But you know real change from that fall
Would be sending no card at all

Author's Note
Been a rough day. Only came home to see the same damn Christmas card as always, sent by my dear dad, who doesn't seem to be able to accept his past mistakes and instead drowned me so much, I broke off contact. I just love family life man. Makes me really positive for the future.
Well... ain't that what Christmas is about? Family?
