What is Hip?

      
Is it hip to go with the flow or be an outlier who goes against the roll?
Or do you have more drip when you flip the script and still know the role?
Are you with it and fine or are there signs you’re not in line with the times?
Because as the years fly by the swag lags and eventually it gets left behind
 
I thought I used to be cool or rad or fab or funky-fresh-fly and fluorescent
But the truth is my youth faded faster than the effects of an anti-depressant
Now I’m wondering if it’s hip trying to stay a brisk with this new generation
Because whatever trends today ends tomorrow without any notification
 
I’m just an old bloke trying to joke and be woke because I’m a little slow
But basically, I just want to know
