A Crossroad Into The Past
DRACON’S CASTLE
Sighisoara, Romania
Naynina glanced over at Vasile’s side profile. She assumed he was chagrined after her refusal to spend the remaining evening with him; especially, after he promised to see to her destination the first thing tomorrow morning.
Naynina looked out the window at what was the beginning of a steep hill.
The wheels of Vasile’s vehicle made it up a narrow winding road. And then ascended the journey up a steeper Craig.
Naynina pivoted in her seat to face Vasile.
“I’ve noticed several homes erected on flat land. Why is Professor Constantine’s residence different?”
He’s a mothafucka who should have been put out of commission centuries ago, Vasile thought to himself.
“The man is known as a private recluse.”
“I would have never expected that mannerism from a well-known professor.”
Vasile’s braced the tires of his vehicle on flat terrain.
Naynina looked around the vast landscaped grounds.
“This is simply magnificent.”
The sight stretched out for miles from one end to the other end. The view was majestic to her.
Vasile pulled his vehicle alongside Dracon’s black BMW SUV.
The sheer idea of leaving a vulnerable virgin in his immortal enemy’s hands was sickening to him
“Before, I let you out this vehicle, promise me I would see you tomorrow.”
“I’m sorry, tomorrow may not be advisable. My professor breaks his students into groups, and from there, we usually will tour a digging site, and that could take all day.”
Vasile reached over and stroked Naynina’s face.
“There’s always night, and there’s this nice restaurant in town. I’m sure you would enjoy the five-star rated cuisine.”
“If I could get away. Then yes, I would feel honored to join you for dinner.”
“I will be at your door this evening around eight.”
“You may have to pick me up at six; most likely, the curfew has been determined for us to roam on our own until eight.”
“I will see you six o’clock sharp, and we are here.”
A valley of mountains stood proud in the distance. There was not a single residence within distance.
“This is totally private, if I am allowed to say so.”
Naynina turned to look at the residence she will be residing in for the next three weeks.
“Ahhh…” Her words got caught in her throat.
Walls of blood shrouded a vague memory, she could see. The taste of death filled her esophagus.
Naynina palmed her throat. She could not breathe. Her breaths was becoming labored. She could not withdraw her eyes from looking out the window at Professor Constantine’s residence. Her skin suddenly felt hot all over.
Vasile noticed Naynina’s discomfort. He placed his hand over her back.
“Baby, are you alright.”
“Va…sile…I...I can’t breathe.”
Naynina’s windpipes caved in she slumped in Vasile’s car.
“Shit.”
Vasile looked over at the Dracon’s residence. He drummed his thumbs on the steering wheel. What would be the harm in taking her back to his residence?
The front door opened.
“Fuck.”
Mordecai looked at the vehicle parked in front of his master's residence.
Vasile unsnapped his seatbelt, opened his car door, and got out. He didn’t bother to close the door. He rushed around to the other side of the vehicle. He opened the door and leaned in. He quickly unsnapped Naynina’s seatbelt.
Dracon fine-tuned his ears to the surrounding. He sniffed the air. He blinked his eyes. He sniffed the air again. He pivoted around in his seat. He looked back around the dinner table. He met the curiosity in his seated guests’ eyes.
“Excuse me everyone.”
Dracon scooted his chair back. He stood and rushed to the door. Once he was out of viewing rage. He whipped his presence through the foyer to the front door. The smell his nostrils have come to recognize, at last he remembered, welcomed his nostrils. He joined Mordecai at the front
What the fuck was this bastard doing at his door he thought.
“What is the meaning of this?”
“I opened the door to the sound of car tires. And this is the sight I witnessed.”
Dracon saw one of his immortal enemies lifting a woman out his vehicle. His skin began to get hot, his pores tingled.
Vasile lifted Naynina from out the passenger seat of his SUV. He kicked the door close with the back of his foot. He rushed up the graveled pathway to Dracon’s front door.
“This woman needs medical attention.”
Dracon peered down at the woman who Vasile held in his arms
“Naynina,” he muttered under his breath. He looked up at Vasile.
“Who is this woman?”
“Her name is Naynina.”
Mordecai cleared his throat.
Dracon looked over at Mordecai and then back at Vasile.
“This woman is one of your students, and my date for tomorrow evening.”
Dracon lifted Naynina from out Vasile’s arms. He rubbed the side of his cheek against her face.
“Dracon,” Naynina mumbled in her subconscious.
Dracon looked up.
Several eyes pinned his existence.
“What is the meaning of this?” Professor Peeples rushed across the foyer. “What have you done to my student?”
Everyone looked at Vasile.
“Her transportation was delayed, and I assisted her dilemma to provide her with safe passage to get to her destination. She became overheated and passed out in my vehicle.”
Dracon turned revengeful eyes in Vasile’s direction.
Professor Peeples looked down at Naynina’s finger.
“My goodness, her finger is bleeding.”
Dracon and Vasile both turned their head to hide the descending of their fangs.
Dracon retracted his fangs and closed his mouth. He looked over at Professor Peeples.
“I will escort this woman up to the royal suite.”
“Why does she get the royal suite, and everyone else gets the crappy sleeping quarters,” Mimi spoke out from across the foyer.
Everyone turned to face her.
Mimi found Dracon’s eyes.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean that how it sounded.”
Mimi ventured into the foyer. She walked over to where Vasile stood.
“Hi, my name is Mimi.”
Vasile sniffed the air around Mimi’s presence. He looked over at Dracon.
“Tell my date I will see her this evening.”
Dracon hissed under his breath.
Vasile hissed in return. He turned and walked out the door.
“I will expect a full explanation as to why this woman was not properly assigned to an escort. This place is not safe for a woman to venture out unchaperoned.”
“This will not happen again.”
“Mordecai bring me the First Aid Kit, and meet me in the royal suite.”
“Yes sir.”
Mordecai walked out the foyer.
“Please everyone join me in the Grand Dining Room. I will account for my presence momentarily.”
Professor Peeples stepped forward.
“Professor Peeples, please join your students. Your student is in safe hands.”
A student I have been waiting for centuries to hold again he thought.
“Come on everyone the show is over. Professor Constantine will join us briefly.”
Each student standing near the arch of the dining room, turned and slowly returned to the Grand Dining Room.
Mimi remained standing.
“Professor Constantine, please do not forget our little…romp later this evening.”
Mimi’s mouth dropped once she realized she was talking to a departing back.
Dracon walked up the first flight of staircase. He looked down into Naynina’s eyes. He glanced back and looked down the first flight of stairs. Dracon turned his attention back to Naynina. He lifted her finger and gently suckled it. He closed his eyes. His body felt a quickening, and then a tingling sensation, coursing within.
“Mmm,” Naynina softly moaned.
Dracon removed Naynina’s finger from out the enclosure of his mouth.
“Fairy’s Blood. I see you still have your mother’s birthmark, her blood continues to run through you from the first night we ever made love until the day you joined me in the abyss of immortality.”
Dracon’s last foot hit the second flight of stairwell. He looked around and dashed the remaining steps. He entered the royal suite that once housed his wife’s presence. He gently laid Naynina down on the blue velvet covering. Dracon sat near Naynina’s presence. He stroked her cheek. He had so many questions he wanted to ask her. How was it possible she leaped over many centuries for her to be laying in a bed, both made love in time-after-time, night after night so many centuries ago.
“I will love you beyond infinity,” Dracon whispered.
Naynina heard a voice speaking to her in her subconscious state.
