Shadow Glean

 
silently you leave  
I'm always unsure if or when you departed
cloaked in shadows
you write to me
abstract poems meant only for my eyes
so cryptic I alone would understand
 
your intellect a mystery to me
 
my sparkly shine caught your eye for awhile
then fade upon closer inspection
I failed to amuse you
 
enveloping me a feeling
an understanding of love
and its need
it wants to be protected
it desires company
it longs for flesh
 
eye candy for the soul to devour
it can be a challenge amusing you
I change the flavor
moment to moment
suited to your mood I alter
 
keeping pace with you
I don't have time to be a cheat
I don't lust another
but that doesn't mean I can't get into trouble
 
watching me from a distance
you take note of everything
every nuance of an encounter
the smallest details don't escape your notice
 
I am but a stranger dancing on your periphery
I wonder when it happened and I became a fascination?
 
you're on my mind tonight so I'm writing  
these are things that go through my thoughts while preparing for sleep
 
I wonder about your nature  
you've allowed me so little in all these years
I know you believe you are better for me
I'm curious in what regard?
 
I wouldn't fit you sexually
 
I've digested that much about you
I would dissapoint  
my gift is of the soul
shining so bright it hurts
you would find my eyes to be too honest
 
my glitter would come off on your hands
and you'd strangle me for it
