Pain is an old friend you invite for tea
Doing the right thing is known to hurt.
It's demonstrated in shows, movies, even books.
Nothing quite replicates it.
This pain is not something that can be read or seen.
The many nights awake, shaking with tears.
Mornings with heavy eyes and a shaken frame.
It may have been right.
But it still hurts.
It hurts and hurts and nothing can change that.
It's just there.
You can make deals with your pain, you can even beg it for forgiveness.
It will laugh, and hold you tighter.
The past is unchanging.
Doing the right thing is known to hurt.
Nothing could have prepared you for it.
It's demonstrated in shows, movies, even books.
Nothing quite replicates it.
This pain is not something that can be read or seen.
The many nights awake, shaking with tears.
Mornings with heavy eyes and a shaken frame.
