Dealer's choice

You make the world go 'round with every buy
yet so many hungry still die
empty hearts leaving their marks on the world
hiding their gains they have squirrelled
hiding their paper sins from the masses
in hopes that your unease soon passes.

In this game, where every choice is felt
you cannot trust the dealer who dealt
His friends the poverty and you the remains
fold now and walk away with your gains
meager though they be
no one profits from your misery.
No, this is a dealer's choice
watching the foolish and desperate rejoice
with every small victory
unbeknownst how much they lose to see
their name in lights
for one brief moment theu can delight
before the collectors come to collect
taking all you thought you could protect.

Yes, you seem to be losing the fight
to not have them invade your right
to a good and prosperous life
but you're just another stain on the knife
that cuts through injustice and wrongs
like so many have sung their songs
hoping to remind you of the fairness
that makes others seem like they care less
nevermind the hypocrisy you perceive
that's just misinformation made to deceive.

It's the dealer's choice
and the people's voice
clashing together like the hammer and anvil
to build the perfect castle on the sandhill
only to be swept away and forgotten
by time so cruel and rotten.
