Midnight thoughts

Alone, just me and my midnight thoughts
mind so heavy with dark clouds
remembering the past and all it brought
thinking of the future in it's eternal shroud,
midnight thoughts, a bitter enemy to my smile
needed to step out and clear my head
midnight thoughts are here for awhile
keeping me awake in bed
reminding me of failure and my faults,
my empty house that became a reflection
of my soul with every false thing it sought
loneliness becoming it's infection.
Sitting here, waiting for the rain to clear,
to allow the sun back out,
but it's midnight now, so I'll wait here
until the thoughts cease to shout.
