Image for the poem Where have all the antelopes gone?

Where have all the antelopes gone?

Where, oh where have the antelopes gone
leaving the lions to starve all alone!
No more herds to be seen on the savannah
no more young or old to become manna
the sights have become more and more rare
extinction growing large from nowhere
the hyenas cackling and howling,
their empty stomachs constantly growling.
Vultures circle overhead,
only finding emptiness and no dead,
scavengers play the waiting game,
never getting to chase the game.
New appetites begin to arise,
the hunter becomes the new prize,
with no more prey to seize
there is new blood on the breeze.
