The underneath ones

I represent the misfit daughter and sons,
the truly underneath ones.
The ones you would like to forget,
the ones you seen as not worth it.
The freaks, the geeks, the weirdos
the ones you showed the bottom of your nose.
Now you see us for how we are,
the true rebellion, the true burning star.
Yes, I represent the underneath ones
not for being required,
rather the evil I've seen done.
They are no longer undesired,
though you mistook their oddity for ugliness,
now you see the wild beauty that comes
from following the beat of their own drums,
the tempo they set for themselves
while you sought to place them on the shelves,
like a trinket, a novelty, a conversation piece
never seeing they just sought release,
from the torment and shame
they felt because they weren't the same.
Now is our time to shine
so gather round o misfit children of mine,
be yourself, be something they cannot be
now ia our time to be, wild and free.
