bigot

I sometimes wonder
how we coexist
when we're not on
the same page
about some really
important things

Hell, we're not even
in the same book
on the same shelf
or same section
of this library

I'm not even sure
we're in the same library

And you resent me
for closing down every conversation
that could lead to an argument
nevermind
that you find me too emotional
and can't have a conversation
with me anyway
because my intensity
makes you uncomfortable

And I resent you
for being a barely veiled bigot
that pretends to sit
in the fence of equality
while justifying antiquated ideas
and already debunked conspiracy theories
when you've known
more privilege
in you life
than you can ever understand

You've never been
on the wrong side of other

And that's why we
can't have these arguments
you call conversations

My lived experience
has never mattered to you
