I think the connection between ‘honesty’ which is seemingly good and ‘shamelessness’ which as you say has negative connotations forces the reader to examine both at a deeper, fundamental level. Is absolute honesty ‘good’ ? Is being without shame ‘bad’ what does each actually look like in reality?
