disintegration
it all comes away in pieces
too fragile to handle
the manuscript too ancient
so long entombed in an airtight room
it crumbles into dust
at the first unguarded touch
indiscernible from the rubble
scraps & fragments
of glyphs & the tiniest patterns
for themselves alone
they are meaningless
too shattered to reconstruct
nothing of substance to tell what it once was
somewhere in the back of thoughts
in a well dark & deep
the keeper floats
parchment flesh & eyes of ink
sensing the death of first creation
fingers begin anew
recapture what was lost
writing book two
before earth swallows the pool
