OIL AND WATER
Now there's a dust from my legs
As I unfurl my wings once again
A trip to places I missed
Another sip of those colder winds
Just a pinch of salt will do
Just a ghost of belief from you
Now there's an ocean between
These places pulling my heart from me
Our eyes were locked in a dance
But you were taking another's hand
By Autumn you're falling free
I see you as the swaying leaves
I've got an ache in my bones
It's not as painful as hope, you know
When love becomes like a gun
It's hard to bask in the rising sun
But you do it anyway
Because this could be the last day
Here is oil and water
On the canvas, they can never mix
But the most vibrant display
Is seen where opposites co-exist
Wait all day to hear you sing
This distance should be comforting
