Image for the poem a letter from innocence

a letter from innocence

I am cradling my innocence
who is so sensitive to your touch
she responds to you
I wonder if you know
little rebellious faith
has eyes for you

not a kindly elderly man does she see
but a man of intellect
this is greatly appreciated
craved even

her chaotic world blurs
with tears she cries to be understood
you are the man I need
sympathetic and solid
in an ever shifting place

I look in your face and I see beauty before me
touching stoic salvation
in dire need you tether me
when I go star wandering

I look to you when I need to find due north
when I get lost in the dark and can't see
you guide me back home
where I am me again
