Coffee House

lean back
cold black leather
soft and repellent

vaporous film in the red autumn leaves
will haunt
thickening clouds

wanton thought

I see your apparition and stare
down into my espresso

smokey quartz dangles
from a silver chain
your ability to scare
is present

in the eyes of posters

printed phantoms
antique ghosts
nothing burns
in the dark fireplace

cracked
coffee cups churn
the wide-eyed night

for a moment
if life could be siphoned

I’d bottle whats left

we fight side by side
and I know
you still feel alone
like I do

we only have ourselves
it is not enough.
