Lessons of the Unyielding Heart

I thought I'd learned, could say goodbye,
In the quiet space where candles glow,
I thought I'd wrapped you up, could let you go.
I whispered spells to banish love's sweet pain,
Hoping when I'd look, your ghost wouldn't remain.

Yet my heart rebels, alive and raw,
Stirred by every echo of your name it ever saw.
Nights unfold in dreams of your lingering touch,
My head knows it's wrong, but my heart claims it's right.

How I've struggled to cut our lasting tie,
But love has truths that even reason can't deny.
I'm still enrolled in this tireless course of you,
Humbled, learning depths I never knew.

My mind says "halt," but my heart's not done,
It declares love's battle too fierce to be won.
It seems, our story isn't quite through,
Evidently, there's more I need to learn from you.
