A Bad Heart
Lie on your couch and watch
the sun dip down below the bay.
You’ll not find grace inside yourself,
a heart that’s young and gay.
The golden bracelet on your wrist
will make it white as snow.
You’ve made your heart as black as coal,
not even warmed in fire-glow.
You sip your brandy long and well,
you see through dark lenses.
But all across the sunny porch
a bad heart finds no true defences.
the sun dip down below the bay.
You’ll not find grace inside yourself,
a heart that’s young and gay.
The golden bracelet on your wrist
will make it white as snow.
You’ve made your heart as black as coal,
not even warmed in fire-glow.
You sip your brandy long and well,
you see through dark lenses.
But all across the sunny porch
a bad heart finds no true defences.
