Wild Flowers

passionate poets

one "in your face” incendiary
the other

right there on the edge close as possible
without bursting into flames

there is chemistry or
perhaps alchemy or symbiosis

literary outlaws wallflowers
lurking hidden in plain sight

like desert flowers after monsoon rains
blossoming erupting obscenely vibrant

vocalizing opinions in ferocious bursts
pushing each other beyond perceived limits

generally individual unique
different as night and day

when stars align personalities overlap coincide
transformed into a beast unleashed

one entity
indistinguishable

boisterous shocking
entertaining pornographic

like grief and hope

hand-in-hand during turmoil then
going separate ways

blissfully free for an ecstatic moment then
withering in desert heat

wildflowers casting seeds to lie dormant
until the next cloudburst
