poets are made of enthusiasm
and fever

without vigor a poet might as well
be picking lettuce or digging ditches

when did you last spill ink true love
or real hatred bleeding onto the page

how long since you unleashed a cherished preference
slamming it onto the page like bolts of lightning

when are you going to get around to
whispering or shouting the best and worst of your life

write with gusto!
with love! with fun! with zeal!
