Hermit’s Haven

within the realms of thought some might believe
living alone marks me as one who grieves
others argue solitude leads to distress
yet i find peace in being self-possessed

no hermit i i have connections near
though distant friends and family appear
in my own company contentment lies
nature's companionship a welcome prize

religious reformers and politicians evade
no salespersons' knocks on my door invade
each sunrise and sunset a poignant reflection
mortality and immortality's intersection

spring's blossoms enchant a joyful affair
autumn's hues summer's warmth winter's hush i share
urban legends imply i'll lose my way
but sanity blooms within solitude's sway

in quietude's embrace my mind stays plain
in truth serene solitude drives me sane
