Many Faces
it’s easy to live multiple lives
in my mind
many things are happening at once
i go from
thing to thing
hour to hour
i see different people
do different things with them
don’t feel like the same person
with different people
sometimes spirits come down
don’t know
what i’m doing
don’t know
what to do
anyone watching
would think me crazy
no one can see inside me
no matter what they see
they
don’t know all
we only judge
our selves
it’s like living multiple lives
i act the parts
people believe me
i don’t know what i feel
i don’t know what i mean
to some
i am like this
to others
like that
inner voices
take over
people take
what they see
they think
that is all there is
sometimes
i want to fool them
but want to or not
i fool them
and they fool me
so it goes
everyone
in their own life
everyone
fooling
the others
it’s easy to live multiple lives
what’s difficult
is to be
a whole person

The author encourages honest critique.
This piece strikes a serious chord with me. There's something to be said for the different versions of ourselves we may have to present to the general public, like a boss, your PCP or your kid's school teacher. That's the kind of 'multiple personality' that's to be expected and is usually well taught and learned; along with being polite and accommodating. Then there's those that you allude to that are intentional and purposeful in their capacity at being disingenuous and/or two (or more) faced, as well as.
I felt that "so it goes" reverberating to my very core.
For myself, there's such a sense of deflated and dejected hopefulness that I try to not let get me down, when thinking about those who you so eloquently pen as "people who take what they see and think that's all there is"... Never understanding fully how much that's left that they are totally missing.

Multiples lives can be good and bad. As long as you don't hurt someone physically and emotionally. Keep on writing.
