Moths By Day

The old lamplight
Glows dimly
Under the noonday sun
Saw no moths nearby
As they were presumably bedazzled
By the brightly lit sky

Mayhaps
On days such as this
Like Icarus
Their soft dusty wings burn
Will they ever learn?

Some seemingly
Follow a Hari Kari behaviour
Oft flying into my tea
Which has always been
A bit of a puzzle to me

But at least
They get to meet
Sister butterfly
During these daylight hours
Whilst at night
They sleep amongst the flowers

These vampire like moths
Oft suckle upon the cloth
Like ironic goths
Giving unwanted ventilation
To everything i wear
Including my underwear!

Night time returns
The old lamplight
Burns bright
Moths in their droves
Spend the dark hours
Banging their heads all night
