Reprieve .
He should have been know as colours as his soul was tethered to the dawning of new days . In blues and whites with a smatterings of greens . Every morning that his eyes set upon such simple gifts he felt very affluent given gold coins to put in his pocket. He wasn’t a man to waste time he had been challenged in ways you don’t want to be and it made him blatantly aware of that rhythmic beating in his chest and how with the grace of god he had been blessed . With a reprieve of living with the knowledge that it had been a close call to close for comfort but he was was miraculously gifted extra time after the final whistle had been blown . He held gratitude in his hand like that of a newborn and you felt it . He didn’t see life like the rest for every sunrise was a gift wrapped in red bows and a reminder of now . It’s a present swaddled in loving just that bit more and forgiving . Laughing and smiling even when the sun didn’t have its hat on. You see he saw the gains when others saw the losses. Yes he had changed it was all the small things he reflected on . Nature beckoned to him and he felt reborn . You see knocking on heaven’s door and it not opening set you free in ways you can’t see . He was just like the birds climbing to the heady heights of new beginnings north east , south and west drenched in hues of aqua rolling over the emerald hills . A free man . Flying and you’d never catch him looking behind there was nothing there . The sun would chase him with come on my son there’s lots of living to be done . He couldn’t help but think how much that sounded like his mum . You know life is full of shenanigans and you only find that when you think you’ve just taken your last breath but the almighty had other plans. In almost you find the secrets to it all . He gratefully placed the key in his heart for evermore .
