Police violence
In the USA police kill citizens pretty much every day
With no consequences to themselves (barring the odd exception)
And hardly the whisper of a protest and the police sued
In France one policeman killed a 17 years old kid
During a routine road check
He is charged with murder
As a result of this killing
There is severe disturbance as people in various cities riot
Go on rampage, loot and destroy
True, that is not ''ordinary'' citizens
Hoodlums will take advantage of anything
To loot and destroy
A dark side of France.

PS: we have seen such, way way back in Montréal when the CH won their last Stanley cup.. Thousands lines the streets cheering etc..........and then there where the usual hoodlums breaking windows, rioting etc.

Gun violence in the US has become the norm. Which is why when we hear that in other countries police are brought to justice for us in the US think "that should happen here more often". Too many times cops get away with this crap. Also, you're right, people go out and celebrate their team (for whatever sport) out in the streets and you get these idiots that want to break and steal things. If the crowds catch them themselves and make an example out of them, may be it would stop.

Some places are learning: I was in Berlin once on May First, where ''workers'' have a feast. previously there had been riots. On this one you had police all over, some also dressed as civilians and mixed with the crowd.. When trouble seemed to erupt, they would gather around the creeps and drag them away....
