The Alphabet Effect
Habituation is no curious thing,
Just a nervous system in routine,
Trapped like an ass in a zookeeper's sling
With no higher thinking to intervene
To train the nerve to a greater duty,
Like the edification of vulgar brains
To appreciate the honor and beauty
That ratio and proportion explains!
So save the routine for lines of verse
To serve as a template for lofty thought;
An addiction where all are free to rehearse
With whatever medley of words may be brought.
Infinitely cheaper than the dime bag weed...
Is the habit where we learn how to read.
