Let me fall
I've often wondered and sometimes wanted
to cling as a parasite on your body of reassurance,
for the possibility of redemption teases my will.
O' how miserable the believers look, and to me
how deluded the content believer appears.
If I thrust my iron trust and follow wherever you lead
will I too be granted a safe passing, or of wasted
every dedicated, precious breath?
As I look into the eye of heaven washed with flocks of creation
my heart tells me the beautiful fable of the works crafted
by an entity that knows only of feeling without touch, but
this sceptic's scale of thoughts are heavy with doubts
born of logic and reason.
So let me fall with the autumn leaves
who believe they know where the earth waits.
