Stilettos  ( just for fun they said)

they waited for restless feet
born to dance
toe shoes with spiked heels
glamorous occasions
held in cities finest

how they ador(n)ed her
entrance(d) on the arm of her past love
made inches taller
she was the essence of glamor

once among the crowd
he would leave her
to her own devices
not to lose her in his sights
but to enjoy her even from
across the room
where she mingled so easily
to the rhythm
of corporate

confident in her shiny black
her toes always pointed
in anticipation of that first beat
of music

women were drawn to her
for friendship and attention
in kind
fawning around her free spirit
hoping to gather some
for themselves

she would become
the center of it all
without even trying

perhaps it was the shoes
always shiny new
gracefully her legs carried her
across the wooded parkay
while her body
became seperate
in rhythm with the
music

she would smile
at their stares
of admiration?
she could never be certain
but once the music started
nothing else mattered

just her certainty
she could move in the stuffiness
not be obligated
to succumb
to all things corporate

she allowed others
to break free and
dance
just
dance

Author's Note
These were interesting times in my past. I saved a pair or two to remind myself how difficult it could be just to walk in these damn things. I don't miss any of it. I much prefer going, dancing  barefoot. 😁
