Pernickety on a Sandbar
My neighbor became
niggly aggressively argumentative
She knew next to nothing
about the couple
we spoke to that morning
yet she insisted
the man is rude
misogynistic
domineering
She said ALL men ARE the same
That got me going
I challenged her on how anyone
namely, her, can make snap
judgements on people they
just met
Perhaps she’s judging from
self life experiences
and upbringing
Maybe her deceased husband
treated her poorly
or she just has a propensity
for intense focus on things
no matter how trivial
Every battle is a mini war for her
every inch and iota is a battle
I suggested she get worked up
on the larger issues
Words fell on deaf hearing
and she picked up where
leaving off
Later that afternoon
she invited me to go see
the Owlets in another courtyard
On the way walking
she said,
“ I don’t want to fight with You anymore. “
