DAMNED OLD TRUCK BLUES

i just have
to fix it
figure it out
and i can't give up,
can't let it go
hang on
push on
try
again
fail
again
keep trying
failing better
and better
getting nowhere

makes me
make excuses,
the way
they designed
the damned
thing
you can't get
a normal
human hand
in there
and damn
plastic
connectors
won't budge
but crumble
at the touch
and geezus
i ain't no
mechanic
mechanics
do this
every day
have all
the right tools
and so on
and so on

none of it
makes me
feel any better
i've just got
to fix
this truck

google this
google that
none of it
pans out
and neighbor
trying
to help,
drunk,
stumbling
across the yard
manhandling
my poor truck
and i tolerate him
just because
he makes
the effort
but i'm happy
when he
finally
goes home
to sleep it off

leaves me here
up to my
elbows
in grease
smashed thumb
and broke back
still trying to
get this tired old
truck to run
