More than meets the eye

I might be a bright star in the darkness of night,
but I’m dying while you only see the light.
There’s more to me than meets the eye.

I might be a flower beautiful and sweet,
but that doesn’t mean I’ve never felt defeated.

I might be a mountain of rocks standing tall,
and you might assume I’ve never felt small.
But I’ve seen rock bottom.

 I felt it all.

I might be an ocean crashing against the shore,
and you’d think I’ve never drowned before.
But inside me there are predators,
like I’m fighting a war.

I might be a fire,
but that doesn’t mean I’ve never been burned.
I too have scars that I earned.

I might be a hurricane,
I’ve caused the damage and I felt the pain.
Sometimes you just have to enjoy the rain.
