romantic adieu

Romantic adieu

The woman I, once upon a time, loved forever
is about seventy-five, if she is still alive.

I can’t recall her face, only that she was lovely
An unkind man said her face was too fat

I slapped his face blood ran from his nose.
Yes, for her, I could start a nuclear war.

Like a rosy love story, she took the train
To a distant last stop, she said for love.

I remember the steam of the locomotive
And the station’s big clock on the wall.

Maybe it was a dreamy movie I had seen
Had my love story been a romantic fantasy?
