Walternate Universe – PCE-87

“This is a simple retrieval mission” TOTO began
“He left some important documents in an account
It’s something your alternate hid from his wife
He wanted to take care of them, it’s a pretty big amount”

“What is it?” I asked the robot but he hesitated
“It was an updated life insurance policy, will and testament
Your alternate died some years ago in an accident
He had gotten himself in quite the predicament

He hid them because he did deals with some shady people
For the last couple of years his wife has been in a struggle
You just have to go into the bank and retrieve the items
Turn them into her attorney and it will ease her troubles”

The bank used a fingerprint and facial recognition system
When I opened the safety deposit boxes there was a lot of cash
I placed everything in a briefcase and went to the lawyers office
I claimed to be a distant relative wearing a fake mustache

But as I was leaving the building to find a secure place to leave
His wife and children happened to be passing by
She did a double take as I turned around and went back inside
But I rather have her think she saw a ghost and didn’t say goodbye
