Alive but not living, yet.

A lifeless body of someone I loved laid down to rest.
They said to move on,
at least try your best.

But they forgot to mention,
they had rules for letting go.

If you’re sad,
don’t let it show.

If you’re mad,
just let it go.

Simple enough, isn’t that right?

But it doesn’t help me sleep at night.

If I’m hurting I shouldn’t have to fight it.

Denying it,
isn’t a solution.

It’s like filling my body with pollution.

And I was drowning,
right in front of their eyes.

But they refused to compromise.

They stuck to what they know.

If they saw I was sad,
they didn’t let it show.

If I make them mad,
they let me know.

If I screw up their rules,
they'll let me go.

But I'll never forget them when I'm alone.
