if I can rise like a phoenix
then I’ll fall in a ball of flames
when there’s no love left
no kindness here for me
and I’m only to be lonely
I still won’t die quietly
definitely not for anyone’s satisfaction
so I scream
ThIs Is WaR!!!
if all I’ll ever know
from this day forward
is pain and sadness
I’ll bottle up my tears
for you’ll never know it
that way one day
maybe you can feel the same
trying has its limitations
being the hero has its consequences
beat down to dust
you begin to see the world for what it is
pure fucking evil
but take a glance at me
look closely
don’t you see it?
it’s the last bit of fight I have left
the hurt to make you pay
so I say
I will live
to make sure you see
everything that you fear
and that is me being successful
to the point that you can’t stand it
and you begin to pull out your hair
you tried to kill me
now I’ll live to see your regret

Hell yes. I see passion, determination, and self respect in this (to me anyway) relatable write.

Dear DC,
I really appreciated this poem because of the determination to rise and not be bested by something that hurt. Gives credit toward the human spirit to keep forging ahead. H🌷
