Spiral bound

These lined pages
bound within
this notebook,

connected 
by a spiral
of wire

holding onto these 
thoughts,
keeping them
bound together,

as we all are 
bound within
the spiral of life,

our pages linked
by the spiral, 
at the edge,

spun 
through our pages’
perforated holes,
holding us together

There are 
two sides 
to every 
page

Yet there 
are only 
so many pages
in every
notebook

Pages may be 
freely 
ripped free
at any moment,

shuffled around
and in many cases
most likely 
lost

Yet, this spiral
holds it all
together,

and here we are
bound
within life

It may span pages,
but together
our story is told
in full
epic proportions,

Yet it’s all only
a small piece
of a far greater tale.

Each page
so thin, vulnerable,
combustible,

so easily lost 
to the turmoils 
of time,

But 
together 
we are bound 
within this volume

The story 
is stored safely,
so that time
might sometime
remember.

We are bound 
to this spiral
as this spiral
is bound
to
us
