Why are the Tories still a thing? I guess the Tory press has done a really good job since the 1970s painting Labour as unfit to govern, no good at handling the economy, likely to stir industrial trouble, and generally not to be trusted with power in the modern world of global economics, etc, etc. This constant battering-ram message has slowly sunk deeply into the collective psyche, so much so that despite all the evidence of the Tories being utterly unfit to govern, that particular message still sticks more to Labour.
