good company is hard to find
I stopped looking years ago
color me lonely
any night of the week
& I'll still be a fool
in the morning
but I'll never
pay top shelf
to see the bottom
of another glass
that's a different kind of empty...

That third stanza for me, is an eye catcher as well as an eye opener when sobriety is granted. That is indeed another kind of empty. I really found this a beautifully relatable write hovering between these two worlds. Great piece. H🌷

Weather a good drink, or a toxic lover, sobriety is the first lungful of the rest of our lives and it is truly delicious.
