Can we just skip this bit
skip the weight of tears on my face
skip the inadequacy of every embrace
of those still living
because they don't embody
all that is you
There's so many things
I wish I knew
so many stories untold
and maybe it was always meant
to be that way
we can't fit a whole life
between to bound covers
and pretend it's complete
so I'll have to settle
for the small stories
you've chosen to share
while wishing I had more
Can we just skip this bit

Cause I'm not done grieving yet
for the last person
who had to say goodbye
and I'm just learning to live again
without every day feeling like
a looming apocalypse
and I'm not ready to let you go
though I know it's time for you to go

Alas, this has me pondering how well, or not, I know even those I hold closest. Who are they really? Your poem is a great thinker, while I’m sad for the loss it’s a sweet reminder to me to cherish what I’m gifted to know about anyone. H🌷

My experiene is that the only way out is through ... so I guess there's no skipping the painful bits. I like the way it read like lyrics for song; it has an extended future too (in a nice way, I mean). Best regards, Josh.
