Image for the poem Thou Art

Thou Art

Though life's toils and trials blind my eyes
Through all and all, ever present, thou art near
Overcome by thy mercy in my joy -
Though I make my bed in hell, thou art there

Thou ever watchful sovereign, God
Who movest with hallowed footsteps, fate
And bids me in your footsteps trod
To take thy yoke and share life's weight

Teach me to walk this life by faith
Led by whisperings of the still small voice
The veil is thin 'tween clay and wraith
All alike to you, in your grace rejoice

I believe in Christ my God and king
Since the world denies, shall I not proclaim
Though each day its changes bring
My lord, my God and Savior still the same
