Realigned My Perceptions

On a long enough timeline
Everything looks fine
Masked by the illusion of safety
Is the gun in your hand? Or mine?

Picking up the pieces
To play in my own game
Life is full of broken rules
And false names

Self-realization
While I'm sticking feathers up my butt
A beautiful, unique snowflake
Is just another thing I'm not

On a long enough timeline
Everything looks fine
Masked by the illusion of safety
Is the gun in your hand? Or mine?

Keeping licking the cut
Taste the pain, so I know I'm sane
The wound will never heal
Just like I know you'll be back again

You met me at a very strange time
But then I've had a strange life
Kept blinding myself to the lie
But now, now my eyes are open

On a long enough timeline
On a long enough timeline
The survival rate, drops to
The survival rate, for everyone
The survival rate
Drops to zero

On a long enough timeline
Everything looks fine
Masked by the illusion of safety
Is the gun in your hand? Or mine?

Am I the liberator?
Or the space monkey?

Author's Note
I am a fan of Fight Club (both the movie and book). If you haven't read it, you should. Anyway, this is from the perspective of "the narrator" or I like call him "Jack". It's a fan fiction kind of piece, I'd suppose...? Anyway, if you like Fight Club, hopefully you'll like my little take on it. Thank you for reading!
