Whomever chooses to paint me as a villain
I'll give a paint brush & canvas then let 'em begin
I don't spend an abundance of time trying to change minds
Not gonna be a slave and placed in perception's binds
I find that I'm often misunderstood by some
Miscalculation & disinformation in their sum
Far from a bum and too worldly for sainthood
Refusing to be a merry man of any Robin Hood
Got a good heart but won't depart from my manhood
Trying to stay cool, calm, & collected doesn't feel good
It's understood despite of this and I overstand
The fight, flight and plight of being a Black man
