Evening Meeting with the Master
Please take me up and hug me
Like you did so long ago
So all my cares will vanish
Beneath your august glow.
On that lakeside terrace
Beneath a brilliant starry sky,
Tiled tables and umbrellas
Japanese lanterns strung on high.
The lake a quiet whisper
As it lapped upon the shore,
The magic of that evening
Lives with me forevermore.
When I saw you walking toward me
Radiating love and grace,
All creation could not hold
The beauty of your face.
Then I threw my arms around you
And hugged you close and near,
Such bliss as this I'd never known
In all my earthly years.
So pick me up and hug me
Like you did so long ago -
So all my cares will vanish
Beneath your august glow.
Like you did so long ago
So all my cares will vanish
Beneath your august glow.
On that lakeside terrace
Beneath a brilliant starry sky,
Tiled tables and umbrellas
Japanese lanterns strung on high.
The lake a quiet whisper
As it lapped upon the shore,
The magic of that evening
Lives with me forevermore.
When I saw you walking toward me
Radiating love and grace,
All creation could not hold
The beauty of your face.
Then I threw my arms around you
And hugged you close and near,
Such bliss as this I'd never known
In all my earthly years.
So pick me up and hug me
Like you did so long ago -
So all my cares will vanish
Beneath your august glow.
